URL Encoder and Decoder

Inspect percent-encoded text for links and API requests. Choose a single URI component, a complete URI, or one form field value. Conversion happens locally and never visits the supplied text as a URL.

Calculations run in your browser. No account or API key is needed.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste text or a percent-encoded value.

  2. Choose encode or decode and the matching mode.

  3. Convert once and inspect the output before using it.

Choose the right boundary

Component mode escapes separators such as & and /, making it useful for one query value or path segment. Full URI mode preserves URI separators, including during decoding. Form value mode represents spaces with + and a literal plus with %2B; it does not parse an entire form body.

Avoid accidental double encoding

Each run performs one conversion. Encoding an existing % escape encodes the percent sign again. Decoding rejects incomplete escapes and invalid UTF-8 instead of substituting characters. Original whitespace is kept, so inspect copied line breaks too.

Common questions

Does + always mean a space?

Only in form value mode. Component and full URI modes preserve a literal plus during decoding.

Does encoding make a link safe or private?

No. Percent encoding changes representation; it does not encrypt data, validate destinations or remove sensitive information.
